THE BEGINING

The road to Aziz Abdo’s music career has had a few forks in it to say the least. The Lebanese native was raised in Sweden where it looked like he was destined for a career in professional football for a while. Even though he scored many successful tournaments, a chance encounter on a night out with friends made the stars begin to align for him.

THE STORY

Aziz’s uncompromisingly good looks caught the attention of one of Sweden’s top modelling agencies. Not quite taken by the prospect of modelling, Aziz hesitated at first, but was swooned by the beautiful chaos of it all. The offers came flying in for advertising campaigns and fashion shows around the world, including Gucci and Giorgio Armani.

Then, at the age of 20, he took a brief pause and visited his family in Lebanon. What was meant to be just a vacation, turned into yet another opportunity for Aziz to tap into his myriad of talents. After being signed with a notable Lebanese modelling agency, Aziz soared to heady heights, eventually landing him the title of ‘Mr Lebanon’ in 2001. With this newfound fame, he used this public platform as a force for good in a post-war Lebanon, with numerous high-profile outreach engagements. On the sidelines however, Aziz was secretly nurturing what turned out to be his true calling.

THE KING OF ARAB POP

For years ,Aziz remained tight-lipped about his love of singing. Not that he didn’t believe in himself, he simply wanted to capture the right moment for it to take flight. It was when Jiji Lamara, the Arab world’s most revered manager in the music industry, first heard his voice when things began to escalate once more for Aziz. Through Jiji’s unequivocal support, Aziz’s musical expression flourished. Between signing with ‘Music is My Life’ management, the release of his debut album Jaou Jnoun in 2004, followed by his second album, Enty Tsharrafi in 2009, Aziz has smashed the charts and defined a new wave of pop music with his anthem-like songs. As his music continues to pulse through the dance floor in clubs across the region, Aziz has deservedly earned the lofty title of ‘The King of Arab Pop’.

THE JOURNEY

During his full wattage performances, whether on stage or on screen, he carries with him a warmth and knowing charm, pulling people into his orbit. Despite being an enviably multi-hyphenate artist, Aziz has kept his feet firmly on the ground. All throughout his journey, Aziz has been humbled by his ardently loyal fans, to whom he vows to “always stand by” in as much as they stand by him.
